are DVD's considered CD's?

Plain and simple answer: No!

 

If the person doesn't believe you insert a data DVD with mp3's or some other files, etc., into a CD drive and it won't even recognise the disc. If the person still doesn't believe you after such a demonstration then you're completely wasting your time, and that person needs to get educated on disc formats.

No, DVD are not CD same like CD are not DVD.

Both are optical discs however.

 

DVD players are backwards compatible though and can read CD's.

i read this topic a day ago and wandered about the same thing. i always thought DVDs were still considered as compact discs. for one thing, it is compact and the other its a disc.
