ArniVidar
Hey guys. I've just downloaded and am testing Defraggler, and it seems to be a pretty good defragging program. The problem, however, is that whenever I tell it to analyze one of my HDD's, it just crashes immediately. It doesn't matter whether I click the Analyze or Optimize buttons, Defraggler just dies instantly. The SMART data appears just fine in Defraggler. It's just the defragging that's impossible. I have four other drives that Defraggler works splendidly on. The drives are a mix of new and old, SSD and HDD, and different brands, but the one that Defraggler crashes on is my newest.. a 4TB Seagate BarraCuda, that's maybe 3-4 months old. Any thoughts as to what might be going on?
Moderators hazelnut Posted August 26, 2018 Moderators Share Posted August 26, 2018 Does it Defrag normally using Windows builtin Defragmenter? What operating system are you using? ArniVidar
Yep. Defrags just fine with any other defragger, and all SMART data looks good. I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64. I tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Defraggler with no difference.
Moderators mta Posted August 26, 2018 Moderators Share Posted August 26, 2018 May be worth trying it with the PC in Safe Mode. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Blob
This has been a problem since at least 2007. I guess I should have looked at the reviews before I downloaded it. At least 12 years now and they still haven't fixed this problem. Wow.
