niallcowan
Hi, I have a windows 10 laptop with an SSD hard drive. I ran CCleaner registery repair, scanned and fixed the discovered issues. Once I rebooted my machine it failed to restart. The screen doesn't turn on and the computer powers down after a few seconds. The LED for the hard drive doesn't come on either. Can some one please help? Thanks, Niall
Moderators nukecad Posted April 29, 2018 Moderators Share Posted April 29, 2018 Looks like you deleted a registry entry that you shouldn't have. The Advice from Microsoft is not to use registry cleaners in normal use, they are a specialised tool for use by a technician eg. when recovering from a malware infection. Luckily Windows 10 has an 'Advanced Startup' and 'Recovery mode' that is the place to start repairing your laptop. As you are not getting to the login screen then you will need to perform a 'Hard Reboot'- Turn on and turn off your laptop repeatedly using the power button, doing this 3 times should be enough. (To be sure turn it off yourself before it powers down). On the 3rd start Windows should recognise that there is something going wrong and go into recovery mode and try to fix itself. (Sometimes it need more than 3, especially if you have used this before). You can read more about the Windows 10 Advanced Startup and recovery mode options here:https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-boot-advanced-startup-options-windows-10-a.html Option 6 described there is the 'Hard Reboot' option using the power button as described above, you should read the part at the top as well. (And it's always useful to know about the other Advanced Startup options). Once you are in the Advanced Options screen you can select' Troubleshoot' and start repairing from there. PS. Windows 10 is constantly evolving so the screenshots there may not be exactly what you see. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? niallcowan
It’s very coincidental that a hardware/bios failure occurs as soon as I reboot after a register repair. It’s not I’m possible but very unlikely.
APMichael
Yes, this would be a strange accident. But you wrote that you don't see a boot logo or HDD access. That's why I assumed that the BIOS initialization fails.
