JulianMc
Ran CCleaner to delete free space on a Win7Pro 32bit machine. Left running overnight to complete. In the morning messages saying it had completed. Pressed to button acknowledge and re-boot. Computer took a long time to close then went into Windows Start-up Repair. It's now been working there for 5.5 hours and still going. (250Gb drive). This is not what I expected! The computer and it's contents are required for a business sale on Wednesday!!! Can anything be done? Will Windows recover the disk? Alternately can the data be recovered.
Moderators mta Posted March 26, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 26, 2018 providing the drive hasn't failed, data recovery can be as simple as removing that drive and either placing it into another PC or into an external drive enclosure. after 5 hours and still going.... I'd be rebooting and seeing how that goes. if still no luck, try starting into Safe Mode and using Restore Points. next options would be a manually initiated repair or worst case, a fresh install of Win7. but get the data recovered first. and for future reference, if the data is important, why isn't it being backed up??? Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
