My c drive was 6% fragmented I ran Defragler and after 10 hours and defrag had completed the fragmentation had increased to 10% I ran defragler again it only took 6 hours but again the fragmentation had increased to 12% can anyone give me any suggestions on how I can get fragmentation down to a reasonable level

Honestly anything less than about 25% is a reasonable level. Try the single file defragmention on some of the more fragmented files.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

make sure in Settings, Options, Advanced, you have Stop VSS ticked and Use custom fragmentation settings ticked.

but really, what you are chasing is the Holy Grail of defragging and is simply impossible.
6% is fine, anything under 10% (for me) doesn't even raise an eyebrow.
at your next reboot, or Windows Update, or browser surf, or email download etc all your efforts will be undone.
not to mention the excessive I/O you have been putting the drive through.

Backup now & backup often.
