garciaiv
Does any one know why this is labeled as under Computer type Virtual? It is on a Desktop and not virtual.

Moderators mta Posted February 28, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 28, 2017 take a screenshot using the Snipping tool built into Windows since Windows 7. save it as a .JPG. then in the forum, you'll see More Reply Options in the bottom right when making a post. there you can attach your file. Moderators mta Posted March 1, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2017 mine shows Computer Type: Desktop when ran normally. it show Computer Type: Virtual when ran from within VMWare Workstation. dumb question - you're not in a virtual machine are you? I'm also wondering if Speccy (or WMI) interrogates the VT setting in BOIS? (I'll have to reboot the PC to find my setting) Update OK, I have Intel Virtualisation Technology Disabled and VT-d Enabled. garciaiv
Once I disabled the Intel Virtualization Technology in the BIOS, it now shows Computer Type: Tablet. I am not on a tablet or virtual machine. Do you know where Speccy gets this information from? Looked in msinfo, systeminfo, and registry. Is it getting its information from the BIOS? Thanks for your help.
Moderators mta Posted March 2, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2017 Speccy heavily relies on talking to WMI to get a lot of what it displays. But the computer type, or chassis type isn't something WMI covers so I'm not sure where/how it determines your Computer Type. Delusionz
My device "sometimes" shows that I'm a Virtual Machine, and other times I'm a Computer. I'm stuck trying to determine how/why I have a DEV package attached and can't seem to get out of it, although I have never been in the Insider Program :( I'm sure this has something to do with that, as it has control of a lot of things.
