Fraggermark
I have Ver.2.21. After defragging, I still have 36 GB(3 files, 420 fragments, and 41% fragmented.) ran several times, and I only have 1 restore point saved. Also, looked at 'files' and there are really hundreds in the list, not 3....Thanks....I'm not real savvy about this, so...any suggestions? Also...just ran it again and it jumped UP to 50%! I have Win 10, btw.
Fraggermark
Along with above post, my Windows defragger is very fast and says 0%. My Defraggler says 36 GB and 42%.....is having 2 different apps for this , messing with it? I think I have heard about having 2 being a bad thing. Thanks all. Moderators mta Posted January 7, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) having two (or more) is fine, just don't run them all together. having two anti-virus programs is not recommended, maybe that's what you are thinking of. first up, in DF, Settings, Options, Advanced, make sure Stop VSS and Use Custom frag settings are both ticked. then click Define and make sure both options in there are ticked. manually empty the recycle bin and delete all Restore Points. after the defrag, you can make another RP if that made you feel jittery but one will get automatically created soon enough. in the DF drive map, is the pagefile fragmented? also try running DF with the PC in Safe Mode and see if that helps. DF is something that only needs running very infrequently, like every 6 months. there's simply little benefit otherwise between the time taken to DF compared to any perceivable performance benefits. if still no luck?, post a screenshot of some of the files and that may give an idea why they are immovable. ... and welcome to the forums by the way.
