Moderators mta 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 In the same friendly community forum vain as the (long forgotten) Birthday Place and monthly desktop sharing, how about, for the season, you change your avatar to something festive. I've got the ball rolling.
Admin Tom CCleaner 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Admin Share Posted November 30, 2016 I'm joining with this! Great idea mta!

Moderators DennisD 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 A man after my own heart mta. I was waiting for December but might as well dust off my old favourite a day early. The birthday topic isn't quite dead yet, just not too many regulars to keep it ticking over, well ... regularly. Mines coming up next month so bake a cake and get the balloons ready.
Moderators Andavari 1 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 I'll do it too, of course it has to have a vehicle in it since I'm a petrol-head ("motor-head").
Moderators mta 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 and we are off to a flying start.... now it feels more like Christmas as you jump around the forum.

Moderators nukecad 7 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 I'm still a newbie here, despite what my status says, but hope you all recognise this one.
Moderators DennisD 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 Hey nukecad. Your name has to be a clue. Christmas at Sellafield perchance? EDIT: If I'm wrong I'll happily irradiate that self satisfied looking guy in the hat.
Moderators Nergal 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2016 Mine's still the festive one I chose two holidays ago so I'm good
Moderators DennisD 0 Posted December 1, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2016 Go mad Nergal, and lets see an ungrumpy one this Christmas. Stop scaring the kids away. Do that and I'll owe you a mince pie.
Corona 0
Nah, the kitten minces enough. I'll leave it as it is. But I'm always aware of the season and do enjoy it. It hasn't really snowed big here so far so that's got a lot to do with my positivity.

Christmas at Sellafield perchance? smilie014.gif EDIT: If I'm wrong I'll happily irradiate that self satisfied looking guy in the hat. Oops, It's hat eating time. That's Springfield not Sellafield. Just ask for Homer Simpson.
Moderators DennisD 0 Posted December 1, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2016 Well slap my leg with a rolled up newspaper! Nuke, Cumbria and twin cooling towers threw me completely. Mind you, it would have helped if I'd ever watched The Simpsons, but, hat duly irradiated ...
Moderators nukecad 7 Posted December 2, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 2, 2016 Nuke, Cumbria and twin cooling towers threw me completely. Well fair enough, I do live close to Sellafield. And my online name does come from the fact that I used to be a CAD draughtsman/designer doing work for the nuclear site. BTW- the twin cooling towers at Calder hall came down in September 2007. I have a story about that, I knew the lads working for the Yorkshire demolition company that cleared them out, did all the hole drilling and placed the explosives. After they had done all the hard work they were told to remove the explosives, and an American company came in, re-placed the explosives, pressed the button, and took all the credit.. The Yorkshire lads were not happy.
Tasgandy 0
A great idea so here is my effort/story I also will own up to being a "petrol head" and a "Ute" lover.............a "pickup" to some folk, and mine was Red in colour. For those down under in Aus. it was a reasonably hot 1964 EH Ute followed by a similar coloured quick EH Panel Van. Which used to run mid 14 sec's over the quarter mile..............Ah those were the days which I can barely remember.
Willy2 0
- Now my "Felix the Cat" avatar has changed to a more appropriate one for the "Festive Season". - We here in the Netherlands we don't look ahead to Christmas yet. First we still have "Sinterklaas" on the 5th of december. That's the event when people give each other presents. We don't do that with Christmas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas

Moderators mta 0 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2017 Ok, let's resurrect this again!
Moderators Andavari 1 Posted December 1, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2017 I don't have a Christmas hat to put onto my Ford GT. Avatar that is, I wish I had the actual car - hope Santa is reading this.
Moderators mta 0 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2017 if the hat don't fit the avatar - make the avatar fit the hat !
Moderators nukecad 7 Posted December 1, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2017 The new forum clips avatars/profile pictures with a circular mask, which cuts off bits of all my favourite xmas ones. (The 'old' software had a rectangular mask). It even made a mess of my 'standard' avatar when I tried to put it back, and has cut the 'orbits' of the one I have put on for now. It doesn't seem to matter how much white space you have around the image, it still crops to the geometry in a rectangle and then masks that rectangle with a smaller circle. (Guess I'll have to edit my favourites in order to get them to display correctly, I see that mta has done it by putting a circle around his).

Nobody likes the new forum software much, but messin' with the avatars has to be the last straw!
Moderators nukecad 7 Posted December 1, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 1, 2017 Software changes and so real humans have to work out how to cope with these stupid machine limitations.
