dasadler
I just purchased Recuva Pro and D/L to a USB stick as I was afraid to write to my hard disk because I might overwrite the file I need to recover. Can I run the exe from my USB drive to recover files on C:? If I run the exe will it try to install on my hard drive?
Moderators DennisD Posted September 1, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 1, 2016 Hi dasadler. If you've downloaded the Recuva "Installer" and run it, it will install the program to it's default location (C:\Program Files) no matter where you run it from. What you need is the Recuva "Portable" version available to download here ... http://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds This isn't a Pro version but there isn't any difference in the scanning abilities of Pro or Free versions. The difference is in the direct priority support and some features. However, because you have purchased a Pro licence you will still be able to contact Piriform Support direct to answer any problems you may encounter using the portable version. Or to request advice. You can find them here ... https://piriform.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Hope that helps.
