das479
After installing 5.14, I try to open it and get the message: "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item. I have Admin rights, it's worked with previous versions. This only started with v5.14. I've tried Run As Administrator during install, changing permission on the folder, changing permission on the file, installing into c:\program files (x86)\ ... nothing helps. I've attached the error message. Thoughts / ideas? Thanks!
Moderators mta Posted February 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 16, 2016 I seem to recall this happening in the past. From memory, either uninstalling current version, downloading and re-installing fixed it. Or try the Slim build or try renaming the executable to something else, like, cclean.exe Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. das479
I had tried uninstalling, downnloading again, and the slim version. Changing the EXE to cclean.exe fixed it. Weird. Thanks for the tip!!
Moderators mta Posted February 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 16, 2016 I suspect there may be some left-over, or corrupted, reg key. Or maybe, something to do with your AV software if you wanted to dig deeper. But sometimes, we are just happy to move on in ignorance!
