Lilscrappy
Hi! I decided to get VMware so I could hopefully play sims 1 on my windows 10 (as I've seen recommended on forums). Has anyone put xp service pack 3 on VMware? I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft but when I go to put that into the player, it says 'could not detect which operating system is in this disc image.' Has anyone had experience with installing xp 3 on VMware ? I am very new with this program and I do not really understand what is required of me to get service pack 3 to work. Moderators hazelnut Posted September 10, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 10, 2015 Just asking.... you are putting XP on first aren't you before you add SP3? Moderators mta Posted September 10, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 10, 2015 you could always make life a lot easier if you got the XP CD with SP3 already biult-in. or slipstream it into your non-SP3 XP by creating your own ISO file. any XP CD will do to install into the VM, you just need to type in your own Product Key when requested. I would have thought a XP with SP3 ISO file would be readily avialable off the web. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Lilscrappy
Hi. Yes I have a file that is XP SP3 IS0 from the microsoft website. But do I need to first get XP before I go ahead and do XP service pack 3?
Moderators Nergal Posted September 10, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 10, 2015 Yes, the ISO is most likely just service pack three, as MS does not distribute Windows XP. You need a non-OEM (NOT ONE THAT CAME WITH A DELL, HP, COMPAQ ETC) XP install disc . Pop the disc into the Virtual Machine disc drive and install XP to the machine. You maybe then (I believe) can use the SP3 iso, but perhaps must first run all XP updates and install sp1 and sp2 first ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Lilscrappy
Wow thanks! I suppose I can also get an ISO of Windows XP somehow. (Its probably obvious computers aren't my thing)
