russ0304
When cleaning any folder or Recycle Bin of any .exe or .dll files the system hangs and is unresponsive when it encounters the first .exe or .dll file. It must be powered down, using the power key. After powering up, all files prior to the first .exe or .dll file have been deleted. I can manually delete the .exe and .dll files and empty the Recycle Bin, CCleaner does not delete them.
Moderators Andavari Posted May 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 7, 2015 Must be something to do with your particular system as it should normally get rid of those files without causing the system to lock. Would be helpful if you state: * Windows version (i.e.; Win 7, Win 8.1). * CCleaner version. * What antivirus you're using.
Moderators Nergal Posted May 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 7, 2015 Spunds like you are trying to delete active files some how ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. TheWebAtom
Sounds like an anti-virus conflict, or some esoteric Windows security setting that is preventing applications from removing other applications. I'm Shane.
russ0304
Solved, it was my av, Bitdefender. I added CCleaner64.exe to the excluded processes list. Thanks all.
