Don’t recommend freeware downloads. There are a lot of really great free programs and not all of them install the junk mentioned in this article. I don't have a problem with free apps recommending things like chrome, dropbox, ect. If they are trying to install "free registry cleaner/virus scanner" thats different. login123 Posted January 12, 2015 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I think the answer is some sort of instant restore software, designed so that when you get tagged, you can just put the computer back with a click or two and start over. There are several available, some free. I have used Powershadow for years, it has never failed. Sadly not available for win 7 or later. For later versions of windows, most of the really good ones cost money, but If I depended on a computer for anything important I would spend it. Edit: Above is based on the assumption that most folks don't know what is necessary to avoid foistware, and don't have time to learn. I know, you could say something like well, they should take the time, but that isn't realistic. The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.
