Give an option for the old GUI (this is the sole topic for requesting the old GUI)

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the latest release has the option? It does say "-Minor GUI Improvements."

A "Minor  improvement" isn't going to give the old GUI back as it wouldn't be a "minor" change or addition. If they were to give an option for the old GUI I'd imagine they'd say exactly that without being vague.

If you mean the option to go to an old style GUI then No.

And the stalwart change log 98% of the time includes;

  • Improved localization and language support
  • Minor GUI Improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

You guys know very well better than 99% of your userbase is NOT registered in the forums and not participating in this discussion.

what about a facebook poll or directly via the ccleaner installation? only selection of yes, no or all the same

There is a way to contact Piriform directly and put in a suggestion for an old GUI option.

Simple go here to send them a message.

that will do not a lot of people, similar to the 99%. thats probably too much work. most will just use ccleaner and co.

Well it's been 7 months at this point that we've complained about the new GUI design, so based upon that timescale the request of the old/classic GUI likely won't be coming back.

The new interface moves the X button to a location where a maximized window cannot be closed simply by moving the mouse to the top-right corner and clicking. This is annoying. Also, flat design is incredibly ugly and this one is flat like it was designed for an EGA monitor. While it is still a functional interface, it has lost correctness, consistency, and appeal. Please stop using it.

the Like This button has never worked on the Board - I don't even think it is implemented.

so don't feel singled out - it happens for everyone.

Yes that's not implemented, and the ability to use those #hashtag texts which were being used as spam and just outright annoying.

Still running 4.19 - I refuse to purchase or upgrade until the UI is no longer flat/metro style. Seriously - it looks lazy.

it's just the cold hard fact.

if it was coming back, it's had a good enough chance to, and hasn't.

To add to the annoyance, the icon for Microsoft Office is the (dumb) one for Office 2013 - even if the version installed is 2010.

Somebody at Piriform sure has a bad case of "religion" - but this too shall pass.

Why did you change the UI? If you left it the old way, it would have fitted well on Win7, Win8 and Win10, now it doesn't fit on either. That's like the dumbest thing you could ever do. Instead of improving the application, you waste time and resources on a UI update which doesn't even make navigation easier, it just makes the whole application look out of place.

have you tried the latest version, v5.07.5261?

it fits just right on Win7 and 8 PC that I've tried it on.

the first couple of v5 incarnations didn't but they seemed to have rectified that little bug-bear.

My only lasting complain is the non-default-sized title bar and form controls

Exactly how does it fit in? The Windows 7 default theme is Aero, which looks nothing like CCleaner v5.07.5261. The Windows 8 default theme is a Metro-like Aero with no blur or transparency, which looks nothing like CCleaner v5.07.5261. The Windows 10 default theme is an even more modified version of the Windows 8 Aero theme, which looks nothing like CCleaner v5.07.5261.

I'm sorry, are you being delusional?

I think our confusion is when you say FIT.

I have taken that literally as the new v5 did have a problem 'fitting' in the screen when maximised, and borders disappeared and the maximise button wasn't shown and such (from memory).

But I see now all you meant by fit was in a cosmetic sense.

Sorry for my suggestion, it seems you were only having a rant.

The floor is all yours.
