Scam Windows virus phone calls

I got one of those scam phone calls today from Antigua Barbuda, the woman said her name was "Lisa" but it sounded like she said Wisa with her butchery of the English language.

 

She said she was calling regarding my Windows 8 computer having a virus and is insecure, and I knew immediately it was one of those scam calls. She said can I help you with your Windows 8 computer. So I wanted to have some fun and I told her I knew my computer had a virus and that it's been giving me diarrhea everytime I use it, then I asked if she'd give me a kiss so I'd feel better.   She hung up the phone.

Yep, I had a similar call about 3 months ago. The caller claimed that he was from Microsoft and that my system was sending out spam messages. The caller wanted me to do things with my system that made me very suspicious. I played along for a short while but ultimately I simply put down the Phone.

 

Andavari here gives me a clue what to do the next time I receive such a call. Brilliant reply !!!!

I just got another one of those telephone calls. This time I was prepared for it. What follows is not an exact transcript, but a shortened version.

"Hello sir, I'm calling to inform you that your computer has a virus. We can fix your computer."
"You've seen a virus? On my computer?"
"Yes sir."
"Is that a Windows virus?"
"Yes sir."
"And you're seeing it right now on my computer?"
"Yes sir. We're from the Windows company."
"You're from Microsoft?"
"We provide Windows support sir."

...followed by more back and forth, while I attempt to get the name of his company, his phone number, and his web site, with dubious results. Finally:

"You're saying you can see a Windows virus, right now, on my computer?"
"Yes sir."
"Well then you are liar and a fraud, because I'm not running Windows on my computer, I'm using openSUSE. Good-bye." (click)

Lol! I wonder where these scammers get their ideas. They seem to be coming up with new ones every now and then. All just to get their hands on other people's hard earned money. I terrible imagining how far scammers can go.

I found several reports lodged at Callercenter.com on scam calls that included the scammer phone numbers. The authorities might want to look into them and investigate on the people behind the calls.

I gave my local police station the phone number and told them the country information since my caller ID machine had all that information stored in its memory. The news channels always say give the information to your police station, however when I called the police crimestoppers I was told they can't do anything and that they only look into it if they've stole something.
