Moderators hazelnut Posted July 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 1, 2014 http://www.itproportal.com/2014/07/01/celebrate-the-birthday-of-the-sony-walkman-/ It was revolutionary. The idea that someone could listen to the music of their choice without disturbing anyone else really changed the impact music had on society, as it meant people could discover their own unique genre of music and just put on some headphones to listen to a whole tape of it really was something special. Moderators Andavari Posted July 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 1, 2014 I still have mine that plays audio cassettes from my high school days (I used it in school on a daily basis). What a rugged piece of old tech it is as I've dropped it many times before and it never broke once. I still use it if there's a bad enough storm that knocks out the electricity for several hours. If only I could remember how to also operate my portable Sony CD player, I think I used the lock feature on it and can't remember how to unlock it. Moderators hazelnut Posted July 2, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2014 Could this unlock a whole new world for you Andavari ? According to this https://docs.sony.com/release/DEG3.pdf there should be a HOLD button which you slide to lock or unlock. @Fluffy I remember when unwound cassette tapes were a regular form of tree decoration Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators DennisD Posted July 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2014 And the Walkman is still one of the best sounding and reliable media players out there. Mine ... Which I've had for 6 years or more, used constantly, and I can still get 25hrs + out of the original battery. I've also got a Sony MiniDisk Walkman which is gathering dust. Imagine only being able to play one album at a time, and with cassettes, not being able to easily skip from track to track. We're spoilt these days. You've tried to help me with this before a long time ago but I couldn't get it work. I'll leave it for a stormy day without electricity project when I'm bored senseless. Imagine only being able to play one album at a time, and with cassettes, not being able to easily skip from track to track. Mine can detect the gaps between tracks making skipping an undesired track easy. It of course doesn't work very well when there isn't at least a 2 second gap.
