Ccleaner 4.05.4250 deletes Nvidia Files

Recommended Posts

Indeed, it is the driver installation files, not the driver files themselves. The winapp2 nvidia entry makes uninstalling the drivers impossible without a reinstall first, hope this new CCleaner entry doesn't also do this, at least not without warning (it only cleans one of the winapp2 entries locations though so this may not be an issue)

i don't think the result/effect would be different

Oh, my winapp2 entry is different and has two cleaning locations, must have been changed at some point.

I've directed the winapp2 contributors who worked with that entry to this thread.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Hi. I´m not pretty sure if it´s a problem about CCleaner, but maybe this data could help you (or not).

On monday I turn of the PC like always and was fine. One of the latest things I do was to clean files with CCleaner (I can´t remember if registry too). It wasn´t the last thing I did (the PC worked a couple of hours before the turn off).

Yesterday I turn on the PC and the aspect ratio was bad (regular VGA A.R.). I checked the System Admin and I found my Nvidia Geforce 260GTX with a yellow triangle. Error Code 43, said.

Off course, I deleted the drivers, uninstall the Geforce, I reinstalled the Geforce, the W7 64bits found it, put generic drivers, reinstalled latest Forceware drivers (327) and nothing.

Supposing that my Nvidia was dying, I put all on my onboard ATI 330, but surprise was when had the same problem (yellow triangle with Code 43).

Later I´ll try using a Ubuntu live CD to verify if my Geforce still working and it´s a W7 64bb problem, but I tell you all this for maybe it´s helps you.

Hi guys

I had the same problem when I ran ccleaner as noted by @elrafaargentino above. Basically i ran cclener and after restart the screen resolution was messed up.

- When I tried to adjust this I couldn't go beyond 1280x720.

- Opening dxdiag caused the error message "Error: could not retrieve driver information"

- There was a yellow sign close to the Nvidia driver in the device manager page

fortunately after I updated Nvidia's drivers from their website the issue got fixed

potatoes you have posted in a 2 year old thread.

Please start your own thread and give details of version and build of Ccleaner used, your operating system and which build of Nvidia drivers.

Also add info staing if you used the registry cleaner part of ccleaner.

Thanks
