Live map of Wikipedia changes.

Everytime someone makes a change to an entry a live map of the world shows it.

That's really cool.

 

I clicked on a few of the "updated articles" and found that most of the edits were commercial spam. I wonder how they keep track of such huge volumes of low quality changes.

granted, it's cool and all, but I'm left wondering what is the point. (like a lot of stuff on the web I guess)

who cares if Rajneese in Bangalore just edited an entry.

good to see all that bandwidth and processing power being put to good use - keeps the hamster wheels spinning at least.

If I remember you have a slow connection speed? It does take a few seconds to connect.

Yes, newest pair of high power glasses.

You can set paper on fire with them if the sun is out.

But . . . that page has been "connecting . . ." for at least 5 minutes.

In a few, I'll get a screenshot & put it onto Photobucket.

Here is what the page looks like at first:

 

When you highlight the blank area with your mouse "Connecting . . " magically appears:

 

Edit: after about an hour, first page is looks same. This is on win xp ie8

 

Edit: Works perfectly in Firefox Portable ver 20.

 

No idea why that happens, not something to trouble about on my account, I guess the moral of the story is use Firefox or Opera.
