What is the easiest way to convert .avi files from my computer so that I can watch them on my TV through my dvd player?

I use winaviVideo converter, it so easy to use and doesn't pull my pc apart while converting. It will convert to most formats to.

you could also wire up your tv to your comp so you can play the file on the comp, fullscreen it, and let it play on the tv. but this is a horrible suggestion so dont do it unless you want to or unless your comp doesnt support it.

I use the second option, but my comp is a lapper. Another option, which may be more of a "think about for the future" is that a lot of dvd players can now play a wide variety of video formats from the dvd such as divx and xvid, and the windows one, i forget what its called...but anyway just something more to think about.

I have been using DivXToDvD for about 5 months now and it works great. While you have to pay for the latest version, you can still download the beta.
