CCleaner Locks Up on Temporary Files Delete

So correct me if I have this wrong...

If you use normal delete with no overwrite you can delete large .exe files.

Any other deletion method you cannot do this?

Did you by any chance in your testing ('cause you seem to have been quite thorough) try to delete the exe file in safe mode?

I noticed that, in Settings\Advanced (Windows\Temp & Recycle Bin) was set to delete only files older than 24 hours. But what is 'older than 24 hours'? From deletion date or creation date?

So far as I recall it is neither when using XP.

It is the Last Accessed date.

N.B.

If Windows Explorer shows you a file, the time at which it accesses the information becomes the last Accessed date as seen by the Operating System,

BUT

until Windows Explorer goes through a reboot it fails to refresh the information that it has already seen.

That was my experience with XP Home.

I have not tried it with Windows 7 Ultimate, but it probably does the same thing.

I did think of it while I was rebooting, but never got round to it as CCleaner started working again ...
