Ccleaner 3.19 & thunderbird...

Recommended Posts

I had went back to ccleaner 2.18 as 2.19 kept doing something to thunderbird, where everytime thunderbird starts, the message pane would reappear on thunderbird. Deleting localstore.rdf in thunderbird profile worked, but right when running ccleaner 3.19 again, the message pane is back.

Guys, ccleaner is {messing} up applications, which ain't good.

I had my thunderbird profile backed up numerous, if it wasn't I'd be one pisssed off person.

Better fix this, and I bet real soon, this thread is gonna pile up with the same problem. Give it a week.

Stop ccleaner from corrupting localstore.rdf in thunderbird.

To qualify as a bug report this needs to be reproducible by others.

A complaint about a thunderbird with no version number/identity,

and working under an unspecified Operating System with no known Service Packs,

does not qualify.

I wasn't able to reproduce this behavior with Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 and Thunderbird 14.0a2 (2012-05-28) / CCleaner v3.19.1721

Right after I wrote the above post, I decided to enable/disable options for Thunderbird in Ccleaner.

This issue only occurs when the cleaning option "Session" in Ccleaner - Thunderbird options is enabled.

I can't be as thorough as Drifus, but I can confirm the problem. I installed CCleaner 3.19.1721 (64-bit) tonight, ran it, opened Thunderbird, and saw a message pane had been added to my layout. I also noticed the quick filter bar had been added. I removed the quick filter bar and message pane, closed Thunderbird, ran CCleaner, opened Thunderbird, and saw the message pane and quick filter bar had been added again. I removed them and closed Thunderbird.

I looked at CCleaner's Thunderbird settings and guessed that session might be the culprit. I unchecked session, ran CCleaner, opened Thunderbird, and the message pane and the quick filter bar were not there, which was the way I had set them. Session appears to be what adds the message pane and quick filter bar.

Really? A new release and still showing the same bug...

CCleaner screwed up thunderbird again, thankfully I had profile backup as I had a slight feeling it was still there.

mm, back to Ccleaner 3.18.1707. I just might switch to kcleaner if it does not produce any results as ccleaner does.

Been using ccleaner as long as it's been out. Just gonna lose a long time user.

Session appears to be what adds the message pane and quick filter bar.

You can untick "Session" under Applications/Thunderbird, it cleans "session.json" and resets the message panel (in the bottom).

If you want to clean it and don't want the panel, you can just click F8 in Thunderbird which hides it.

IMO this ain't a bug.

have the same problem with mine : CCleaner 3.21.1767

So what is the Sessions option?

Oh- unchecking Sessions does indeed do the trick.

Still not a bug IMO. You have "dataloss" also if you clean something like cookies (some account details are saved in cookies) etc.

Just untick the Session.
