Moderators DennisD Posted May 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 26, 2012 I haven't even read all that link hazel, but another "social" browser we do not need. If that ever happened it would be stick with a pre-facebook version, ran Sandboxed, or go to Firefox.
eL_PuSHeR
I was an Opera user a long time ago. Nowadays I prefer Firefox. But I hope it's not going to happen.
Super Fast
Why not? This would make sense for both of them. - Facebook would aquire the fastest browser in the world. I mean, not by much, with Google Chrome being hundreds of thousandths of seconds behind, but still. - Opera would aquire billions to enable research to make it even more better & streamlined. * Did I just say more better? Dashed off and downloaded the latest version as soon as I read that. >>>Sigh<<< The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... Just saying what I see from my perspective as an Opera user. Do I want Facebook having access to all my bookmarks? No thanks. Do Opera users want Facebook to have access to their Opera mail contacts? No thanks. I bet one of the reasons want to buy it because a lot of folk use Opera mini on their mobile already, more ways to access FB without FB having to think of another way to do it. Moderators Andavari Posted May 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 26, 2012 I bet one of the reasons want to buy it because a lot of folk use Opera mini on their mobile already, more ways to access FB without FB having to think of another way to do it. I was previously an Opera user for many years, back when it was a commercial paid version only and think it's very bad/sad news myself but then again I loathe Facebook for being damn near everywhere you turn on the web with "Like me on Facebook" it just gets so damned sickening. Would make more since for Facebook in my opinion commission Opera to build a very customized Facebook edition, and leave Opera alone after that to be their own independent company. login123
Why not? This would make sense for both of them.... >Begin Rant Because most Opera users think it will go to the dogs if facebook buys it. Imho that is likely, and sad. When the Opera folks pursued the objective to make a good browser, they did so. If facebook buys it, the main objective will likely become some sort of networking / group hugging / user tracking / profiling / time wasting / advertisement targeting / money making scheme. End rant< Sorry, did that sound a bit negative? Ahhh well. I never even use Opera, have just now installed it for a run, but I agree with Hazel, it'll be sad if Opera goes down the tubes. By the way Hazel, I really like Opera. Don't know why I waited so long to use it. Gonna use it more, at least for a while. Alan_B
Do Opera users want Facebook to have access to their Opera mail contacts? The first thing privacy issue that Facebook will address is a new user option to permit or deny the automatic enrolment of all contacts as your friends. Guess what the initial default choice will be
Moderators rridgely Posted May 28, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 28, 2012 Not sure I get why they would buy a browser anyway? I think IOS, Android, and Windows phone all have facebook "apps". Why would they need a browser for people to connect to facebook?
