Ccleaner Virus

Retify

Recommended Posts

I have just been to update Ccleaner and received a message from Avast saying that a virus had been detected from the site.

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard

Was the page which was flagged. I have been using both Avast and Ccleaner for years so know both programs are legit and reliable, however want to know if it is Avast falsely finding a malicious file or if there is actually a threat

I would say that it's a false positive, otherwise I, and zillions of other users, would have complained (I use Avast and that page doesn't even raise a squeak from it). I would strongly advise that any CC downloads are done from a trusted source, Filehippo or CC's own site (which I always use).

Hi, Retify

I Just got a similar result.

Downloaded "ccsetup315.exe". from http://www.piriform....wnload/standard

Avast's web shield blocked the download, then I forced it, then scanned the exe file, and Avast detects a threat.

No such threat detection on earlier installers stored here.

Edit: Avast didn't do that yesterday. I downloaded that same file then.

( I know, I know, but I'm in therapy for it) :P

I'm sure it is a false positive, but of course Piriform would want to know.

The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-)

Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.

Looks like they got it fixed, pederoco. :) I just updated my definitions, no detection now. That was fast.
