RobinDawn
Last night I had a box pop up that said something to the effect of "CCleaner.ink is locked for editing". Has anyone seen this? What does it mean? I wasn't using CCleaner at the time.
Moderators DennisD Posted November 2, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2011 Hi Robin, and welcome to Piriform. That's a new one on me, and the only thing I can find from a wee bit researching is to ask if you're on a network, and could CCleaner have been in use by someone else on the network? One of the other guys may have something better.
RobinDawn
Hi DennisD, No, I'm not on a network. Thanks for looking into it.
Moderators hazelnut Posted November 2, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2011 Are you administrator or user? What operating system do you have? Could you have been trying to open ccleaner again when an instance of it was already running? Alan_B
Was it CCleaner.ink with the letter I or CCleaner.lnk with the letter L Is this site is going down the tubes again no smileys, no BOLD, no Italics, no colour.
Moderators Andavari Posted November 3, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2011 CCleaner.ink with the letter I or CCleaner.lnk with the letter L More than likely with the "L", allot of people think it reads as .ink but that's because of Windows fonts style. Moderators DennisD Posted November 3, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2011 It's possible it could be a problem with .LNK file association, but the odd thing is the CCleaner.lnk popping up a message if you weren't running it or trying to run it. Has this happened since you opened this thread with any other applications, and was there anything else tagged onto the " ...locked for editing" message? It appears there can be one or two similar messages like this one but with an extra few words of description on the end. For want of nothing better, and I don't know your OS (I should have asked), there are .LNK file association fixes available for XP Vista and Win 7, and I'm using LNK upper case for clarity. Win 7 file association fixes. (Incl .LNK): Vista file association fixes. (Incl ,LNK): XP file association fixes. (Incl .LNK): Something to at least hold in reserve if no other solution is forthcoming.
