No, CCleaner won't do that. As it only cleans the prefetch that is older than 60 days (last I heard).

As I understand it anything that old would have been automatically purged.? it should never need "cleaning" according to what I've read.

Maybe in theory but, in several PC's, the first time I've cleared Prefetch I've found entries that are months old (often related to old software or one-time executables such as installers). Take a look first if you want to see what's accumulated ... C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

 

The stuff you're using regularly will get "refreshed" and show recent dates. Cleaner won't delete those so performance won't be compromised.
