Hollywoodhack
It's my understanding that prefetch is automatically optimized to preload things during the boot process and that deleting is actually slows performance. What was the thought behind making this part of CCleaner?
Anwar
But it also can slow down your system if you always clean it it will go slow but I recommend you to clean it once a month okay?

As it only cleans the prefetch that is older than 60 days (last I heard).

Take a look first if you want to see what's accumulated ... C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch The stuff you're using regularly will get "refreshed" and show recent dates. Cleaner won't delete those so performance won't be compromised.
Moderators rridgely Posted November 30, 2005 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2005 Ugh.. This has been discussed over and over again. Yes ccleaner cleans prefecth data that is older than 60 days. If you don't want this to be done than uncheck the box, simple as that. Glenn you are absolutely right.
