voyeur2c
I have a question regarding the wipe free space feature. If the laptop I am using has multiple users, and I run wipe free space under one user login, is the history deleted on the hd for all accounts? voyeur2c
The file history? Yes, it's not a user specific thing, it's stored in the MFT which is accessible to all users. It is also my understanding that the hd is not unique to each user. However what would not delete if user "a" ran a wipe free space, what would still be visible for user "b"? Basically I had two logins one a computer, and three other people had user logins. I ran ccleaner on both of my user logins, but only ran wipe free space for user "A". what still exists on user "B" login?
Alan_B
Emancipate Space. Space is not free if it is owned ! ! A user may own files which no one else can access. The data in those files is held on HDD sectors. When those files are deleted the sectors become part of free space, and the system makes them available to whoever wants them. If User A wipes free space the system does NOT leave dirty the space previously occupied by User B.
