jonjonjon
why would one consider app specific settings as junk, they must be manually set so who would want them cleaned every time ccleaner, or any time, ran no. its keeps a list of every program you have run under those keys. a side effect of deleting them is it will also remove the app-specific settings. maybe you should install it and look before commenting. Winapp2.ini
[educated guess with emphasis on guess]I think it never materialized because each ini file is formatted differently[/EDWEOG] late response here, but my understanding is ini's are all formatted the same way, that being [Header] ItemOne=Value That's how it worked when I used to script in mIRC Scripting Language for funsies, and how CCleaner uses it, and numerous other programs I've seen. Moderators Andavari Posted August 25, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2012 late response here, but my understanding is ini's are all formatted the same way, that being [Header] ItemOne=Value That's how I've always seen INI and CFG files formatted when they're following "standards." I know many of us would like to have the ability for CCleaner to remove MRU items, etc., from INI and CFG settings files. One workaround I've did previously but it would have to be tested by someone using a particular software that uses INI or CFG is to make all your settings you want for that particular software, then manually remove any MRU items, and finally set the INI/CFG file to read-only. Note that some software will ignore the read-only attribute and update it anyways, while others may complain, freeze, or even crash.
Moderators Andavari Posted August 25, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2012 DetectOS corrected in "Windows XP System Profile" so that this cleaner does not display on non-XP systems. Arrh, I missed putting in that stupid Pipe symbol. Good catch. Just a question - what will the "Windows XP System Profile*" clean? It cleans everything in these folders: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Cookies C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\IETldCache C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\History C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temp C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
