Question:

Piriform has removed the font cache entry from CCleaner because it could cause a boot problem (if fast startup is enabled). Should we add the FileKeys of this entry to Winapp2.ini?

[Font Cache]
FileKey1=%WinDir%\System32|FNTCACHE.DAT
FileKey2=%LocalAppData%|GDIPFONTCACHEV1.DAT
FileKey3=%windir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local|FontCache*.dat

It seems that FileKey1 is causing the problem, so we could remove it: https://forum.piriform.com/topic/52857-version-540/?tab=comments#comment-300971

I have a Windows 10 (1809) 64-bit system. I have fast startup enabled. I always delete FNTCACHE.DAT, never had any issue.

I think we should add this in Winapp2.ini

Thank you for your modified entry.

Wouldn't it be possible to use "log*.txt"? Or are there any important "log*.txt" files?

Yes, it does appear that "log*.txt" would work.  The files "NvFBCPlugin|logError.txt, LogNvFBCPlugin.txt, LogPluginError.txt" are the only files that show up in this folder on my systems.  However, I do not use a LOT of the capabilities of the Nvidia software because I am not a gamer.  So I played it "safe" by cleaning only the files listed.

So you are suggesting that the code be....which looks good to me for Winapp2.ini.  It does look like there is a "permissions" issue, however, that prevents CCleaner from actually cleaning out these files.

Strange! On my systems CCleaner removes all font cache files without any permission issues.

Why risk cleaning the Font cache at all?

IMHO it is not riskier than cleaning other Windows related caches, as we will never know what Microsoft will change with the next feature update. Like SMalik, I never had any issues after cleaning the font cache. And I don't think anyone knows the correlations why the FileKey1 caused the boot issue on some systems.

Question:

As far as I know, the servers for the following messengers were shut down some time ago:

AOL Instant Messenger
Windows Live Messenger
Yahoo! Messenger

Therefore, the programs are useless without their servers and we could remove the following entries:

[AIM *]
[Windows Live Messenger *]
[Windows Live Messenger Chat History *]
[Yahoo Messenger *]
[Yahoo Messenger Cache *]

Are you okay with that? And do you know any other programs where the servers have been shut down in the meantime and the program became useless?

Thanks! I also found and fixed that yesterday. :)

Normally we use Proper Case (Title Case) for the names of the entries. IMHO the lower case letter "b" is not so important.

I think you mean that we should merge all the individual entries into one [Xbox *] entry, right?

Do you think we can use the following FileKey for this? Otherwise the entry will be very large.

FileKeyX =%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Xbox*_*\

This would affect the "Microsoft.XboxOneSmartGlass_8wekyb3d8bbwe" package, is it part of the Xbox app too?

Yes, we should have only one entry for Xbox.

I think the following FileKey is fine.

FileKeyX =%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Xbox*_*\

Unfortunately, I do not know it, because I have never used Xbox apps before. Maybe SMalik can tell us?
(And/or we could use an ExcludeKey for this package.)

Okay, thanks for your reply. Then we should make a big entry, because the app "Game bar" would be affected as well.
