Winapp2.ini additions

Winapp2.ini

Recommended Posts

Someone here posted this entry. Please think adding this in next release of Winapp2.ini.

[Windows System Profile*]

FileKey2=%WinDir%\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files|*.*|RECURSE

FileKey3=%WinDir%\system32\config\systemprofile\Cookies|*.*|RECURSE

It seems that .NET updates leave huge log files at those locations, could you please add those lines bellow. Thank you!

FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\McAfee\MCLOGS\CoreTech|*.*|RECURSE

I have tested this modified entry on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit systems. I have McAfee Internet Security 2011 on both the systems. For some reason so many uninstalled programs empty folders were residing in the location listed here:

C:\ProgramData\McAfee\MCLOGS\CoreTech

After removing all the subfolders from the location listed above, everything was fine. I restarted the systems and all the needed subfolders were recreated.

Please help me to figure out Norton Quarantine files location.

In my opinion, removal of quarantined items for Security Programs such as McAfee, MBAM, SAS, NIS, etc., should be separate and unique entries in Winapp2.ini and Winapp.ini. That will allow CCleaner users to "purposely/intentionally" clean out quarantined items. If quarantined item removal is part of a general cleanup entry, users may not be aware that quarantined items are being deleted and could get into trouble if a security program false positive occurs and quarantines a good file.

Some people are of the opinion that quarentine files shouldn't be cleaned with CCleaner.

I share that opinion too. However, if that is not the accepted "rule", then I recommend that they be a separate unique entry....only to clean out quarantine files.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Actually I can't even find the location where Norton stores quarantines and related logs. Even after removing Recent History it does not remove the quarantines from the system. McAfee has an option where I can look and remove the quarantines and related logs.

I have 7-Zip v9.20 on my system and CCleaner does not remove all the traces of 7-Zip. I am listing another path that need to be added into 7-Zip entry.

HKCU\Software\7-Zip\Extraction|PathHistory

New addition submission, tested on Windows XP (SP3), needs testing on other OSes though.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if they have a "ready to use" winapp2.ini for clearing the data that Microsoft Office 2010, particularly Office Outlook 2010 logs ---

I am specifically referring to the "last entry looked up" in the "Find" box for Contacts.

Thanks

Is there a time every month when you release Winapp2.ini file? If you start announcing the release date for the next Winapp2.ini, then we will try to post all the suggestions together before the latest Winapp2.ini release day.

I typically put out the next version when I feel there's been enough changes made. I always update after a CCleaner version is released. I think I will hold off an update for may until CCleaner 3.07 is out.

If you guys want a designated release schedule, I could accommodate that.

To have a designated time schedule is better that way we can submit all the entries at once instead of posting every day. It is up to you.

Is there a way that I can make an entry to scan for *.sqm files? The SQM file basically contains header data and Datapoints.

Please replace MS Office 2010 UnsavedFiles entry with MS Office UnsavedFiles as it is good for Office 2007 also. I have posted this entry in my last post.

I really don't know that this will work for anyone but you, but here.

[MS Office 10*]

Hey, Thanks for helping..

It didn't work!

I tried this one:

[MS Office 14*]
LangSecRef=3021
Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046\101f0446

Basically, what I need done is everything in the 101f0446 key (all the values) need to be deleted.

I double checked the value of the registry, and correct it slightly... but it is still not deleting.

What am I doing wrong?
