Winapp2.ini additions

Winapp2.ini

Recommended Posts

Oh, I had corrected that on my end when I read it earlier, so it's all good :)

First, a quick thank you to all the good work you do.

Will the next update include OpenOffice.org 3.3.0? Alternatively, can i simply edit the winapp2.ini file and change the OOo entry from "3.2" to "3.3" there?

You're quite welcome, though I can't take credit since it is fueled by the community.

To answer your question, probably! :)

I too want to thank you for maintaining winapp2.ini.

I was about to suggest Several sections including the OpenOffice 3.2 section be removed

from winapp2.ini when I saw the above post.

The OO 3 section in winapp2.ini actually won't work because the path is incorrect.

And it goes after the wrong file, anyway.

OO 3 cleaning has been discussed elswhere on the forum.

I believe deleting custom.xcu gives people problems in OO 3.

So you may want to review the "OpenOffice 3" section in winapp.ini before adding support for OpenOffice 3.3 in winapp2.ini.

Anyway, Here are a few winapp2.ini sections that seem to be duplicated in Ccleaner.

My apologies if you have addressed some of them already.

Remove Sections That Are In CCleaner Already:

  ********* Already In Winsys.Ini
[MS Direct Draw*] In [Other Explorer MRUs]
[MS Windows Wallpaper*] In [Other Explorer MRUs]

  ********* Already In Winapp.Ini
[Acronis True Image Home*]
[Azureus*]                                   As [Vuze]
[Google Calendar Sync*]
[Media Player Classic Recent Files List*] In [Media Player Classic]
[MS Office Publisher 2003*] In [Office 2003] Section
[OpenOffice 3.2*] In [OpenOffice 3] Section
[Opera 9 (Classic)*]
[Outlook 2003*] In [Office 2003] Section
[WinRAR History*]                            In [WinRAR]

   ** Covered In Winreg.ini **
[MUICache*]

Also, you've cleaned up quite a few errors but a few still remain.

Search for the offending line listed and make the recommended change if you agree.

Fix Misspellings & Other Errors:
  **** Remove Duplicate Line:

Delete these entries from winapp2

Auslogics BoostSpeed Logs

Wrong path

Auslogics Free Utilities

All the paths are wrong

You've got to realize that some of the applications are old, and some people may actually still use the old versions. So any changes would possibly only add-in new paths where things have been moved for backwards compatibility versus just outright removing support for old versions.

@tempguest yep, that's right. it's not an essential file and windows would recreate it everytime if it gets deleted.

@winapp2.ini yep, it works. you can include it. %username% is the same as your windows username you are on. every windows user get it's own sandbox.

eg.

\Sandbox\tempguest\DefaultBox\

\Sandbox\Winapp2.ini\DefaultBox\

\Sandbox\randomcore\DefaultBox\

\Sandbox\%UserName%\DefaultBox\

Since you're the only other person on here that seems to use Sandboxie, I guess I'll ask for your opinion.

Do you think it would be better off to modify the Sandboxie entry to erase the contents of all Sandboxes? Like this:

[sandboxie Container Files*]
LangSecRef=3024
DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Sandboxie\Start.exe
Default=False
ExcludeKey1=FILE|%SystemDrive%\Sandbox\%UserName%\DONT-USE.TXT
FileKey1=%SystemDrive%\Sandbox\%UserName%|*.*|RECURSE

Since I've only been using the default sandbox up until now, I just realized that no settings are contained in the above folder; just contents. So, if you have multiple Sandboxes, this will delete all the contents, but preserve your actual Sandboxes -- and their settings.

Deleting settings.sol removes the user's total security settings for FlashPlayer, doesn't it (See link below)? It just doesn't remove "sites". This doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

Hey Winapp2.ini, you think you could request a feature where you could use strings/variables in winapp2.ini to translate certain entry names...Most programs wont need this, its only for expanded Windows cleaning.

Here is an example of what I am talking about

[%Remote_Desktop_Connection%*]
LangSecRef=3025
DetectFile=%WinDir%\System32\mstsc.exe
Default=False
FileKey1=%Documents%\|*.rdp

; English (default or if language not supported)
[strings]
Remote_Desktop_Connection=Remote Desktop Connection

; 1034 is the language ID for Spanish
[strings.1034]
Remote_Desktop_Connection=Conexi?n a Escritorio remoto

CCleaner will see %Remote_Desktop_Connection% and if you have it set to Spanish (1034) it will look under [strings.1034] and it will display "Conexi?n a Escritorio remoto", if its set to english or the language is not supported it will look under the default [strings] section
