CSGalloway
once the normal shortcut cleaning is done - I think it would be nice if it would then remove the folder.
Moderators Nergal Posted February 23, 2011 Moderators Share Posted February 23, 2011 ??? HUH? ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. ishan_rulz
I think he means... okay, I don't know. 1) Remove Invalid shortcuts. 2) Remove empty folders/shortcuts to folders. 3) Number (2) after (1) as the shortcuts were in that folder and now the folder is empty. Just speculating. Simplicity is hard.
Alan_B
1) Remove Invalid shortcuts. 2) Remove empty folders/shortcuts to folders. 3) Number (2) after (1) as the shortcuts were in that folder and now the folder is empty. That is the only interpretation I could think of. I decided it was a bad proposal. I have shortcuts on my desktop. I add, and I take away. No harm done. I do not think Windows would allow me to delete my desktop folder, and if I overcame Windows objections I am sure Windows would punish me. Finally, whatever and wherever the folder may be, even if it is empty, it may be needed in the future. There are badly coded things available that may be installed and may ASSUME the presence of a "standard Windows" shortcut folder, and installation may be incomplete if the code does not recreate what should never have been deleted. If there is any specific shortcut folder that could be safely removed I am listening. Alan
Moderators Andavari Posted February 23, 2011 Moderators Share Posted February 23, 2011 There's other cleaning tools that can remove empty folders in 'Start Menu->Programs'. I think it would be alright if it only checked in the Start Menu area, but like the other dead shortcut finders in CCleaner I only enable them after I uninstall something, and then quickly disable them again.
