Moderators DennisD Posted January 12, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 12, 2011 Hi young lochinvar, and welcome to the forum. CCleaner shouldn't be removing any System Restore points unless you select "System Restore" in the "Tools" section, then manually highlight them and select "Remove". Which Operating System are you on, version of CCleaner, and can you say where you downloaded it from.
Moderators Nergal Posted January 12, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 12, 2011 Also if you are running WipeFreeSpace (which you shouldn't) windows may be removing System Restore points as drive space is filled ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. I have the latest vers. of CCleaner and I.E.8 I think Negral hit it, as I wipe the drive last thing at night if I'm running CCleaner and have it switch off automatically, then my screen saver kicks in until morning. I really appreciate your replies. Have a great day
Moderators Nergal Posted January 13, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 13, 2011 Wipe free space should be used sparingly if ever. it will extremly reduce the life of your harddrive.
