login123
... Worth reading some of the comments to help with info on this portable app. Thank you, Hazenut. Great news. The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers. Moderators Andavari Posted January 7, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2011 Well it's both portable and not so portable. Some of the settings will still create desktop and start menu->programs shortcuts, which I think in my opinion should be disabled and untickable for a portable app.
Moderators Nergal Posted January 7, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2011 Well it's both portable and not so portable. Some of the settings will still create desktop and start menu->programs shortcuts, which I think in my opinion should be disabled and untickable for a portable app. Yeah I was going to mention that to John over at Portablefreeware.com Anything else I should mention? remember most of their products will write to the drive and then remove the written stuff (that desktop icon is not one) Also Thanks for Spybot. However, for me settings are not remembered (language, default/advanced mode for example). Can someone confirm this?I can confirm this. It appears it is due to the language switching component of the launcher. I'll take a look at it and hopefully have a fix posted within about a day. Temporary Workaround: Open up the file SpybotPortable.ini within the SpybotPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher directory. Remove the entire INI sections for [Language] [LanguageStrings] and [LanguageFile] and save it. That will disable language switching in relation to the PA.c platform and should keep your language selection between launches. Moderators Andavari Posted January 8, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 8, 2011 Well I didn't use the Immunize feature because I knew that too probably wouldn't be "portable," also some of that stuff I already knew would be done outside of the ability of the PortableApps.com Launcher to actually deal with. It's not bad, but like I stated before some of the stuff just needs disabled for it to be truly portable.

It's not bad, but like I stated before some of the stuff just needs disabled for it to be truly portable. If there was a way to disable certain features, I would have done it. I was thinking of going through and just deleting things leftover for different things that we generally advise against (auto-start with windows, creating desktop icon, etc.). Also, I asked Safer Networking if they'd be willing to work with the portable version so it would support Firefox Portable, etc. but they didn't seem interested. =\ (I'm the Spybot Portable dev, btw). EDIT: For those of you running into portability issues, would you mind posting on the PA.c forum so I can keep track of any of its issues?
Moderators Nergal Posted January 17, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 17, 2011 First Update This update fixes an issue with language switching and setting Spybot to non-English languages. http://portableapps.com/apps/security/spybot_portable ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
