unnecessary win services

Windows loads a crap load of services that you don't need. I would send you to a really good site but it's down at the moment. Its run by a guy who calls himself black viper and he has documented the bare minimum that you need to run windows and what each service does. If I find a link to a working site I'll post it.

You REALLY DONT need the telnet service. :)

Set it to disabled!

 

There are many sites which aave tutorials for what are not needed but becareful one time I followed that and my computer act strange.. =/

You can safely disable the Indexing Service.

 

SSDP and Universal Plug and Play are used for file transfers on things like MSN Messenger and other software. I've safely disabled those and still had files transfers work fine on MSN, only rarely will they not work.

I disabled some on my machine that I never really use at all.

 

Security Center

Indexing Service

SSDP Discovery Service

System Restore (I turned this off back in what.. February.)

Telnet

Universal Plug & Plug (SSDP and UPNP are needed for some sharing applications, MSN, Trillian and other applications like that)
