norel
I love that you added Avast to CCleaner, but I think there might be a bug when using Windows XP. It doesn't automatically detect Avast when you select "Analyze" or "Run Cleaner." Three other XP users have confirmed this on the Avast Forum. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=64420.0 There was some speculation this might have something to do with the path to the Avast logs being different in XP from Win.7 & Vista, but it's just a theory. It seems to work great in Vista & Win.7.
Moderators Nergal Posted October 8, 2010 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2010 The Following is what is detected and cleaned by ccleaner for avast! [Avast! Antivirus 4] ID=2160 LangSecRef=3024 Detect=HKCU\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\4.0 Default=True FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report|avast.xsl;Resident protection.txt;Simple user interface.txt;Simple user interface*.xml FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log|*.* [Avast! Antivirus 5] ID=2161 LangSecRef=3024 Detect=HKCU\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\5.0 Default=True FileKey1=%ProgramData%\Alwil Software\Avast5\report|avast.xsl;avast.xsl;Resident protection.txt;Simple user interface.txt;Simple user interface*.xml FileKey2=%ProgramData%\Alwil Software\Avast5\log|*.* Can you please tell us where to find the files listed in the "filekey" entries for Windows XP. You may need ask at the avast forum thread so as to get the info for both versions If indeed these locations are different the CCleaner developers read each thread and your input would help in fixing this problem (if one does exist). ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. norel
I believe what you're looking for is: C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Alwil Software/Avast5. If not, let me know.
Alan_B
I believe what you're looking for is: C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Alwil Software/Avast5. If not, let me know. That looks like a lot of manual effort for the wrong result, i.e. C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Alwil Software/Avast5 I think you mean C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\ Alan
norel
You're right. It should be backslash not forwardslash. My apologies.
