need the perfect anti-virus

hey!

well right now i use Avast Pro edition and i really like it...

The only probelm i have with it is that it sometimes has problems removing the virus....

What i am lookinf for is a anti-v that is easy on the resources and has a super database of viruses.

another thing i need the anti-v to have is a really good realtime protection like the one avast has.

It does not have to be free, and itcan't be an anti-virus and firewall combined.

Thanks

I've had it for almost a year (11+ months). I can remember getting the big red eye ball warning on either three or four emails (probably would have to rate my email activity as light though compared to many) and either once or twice I was software searching and was falsely directed to porn sites and received the nod32 eyeball warning. I'll look the virus bulletin tests up and link it! Oh, one other thing. I have Spyware Doctor, MS Anti Spyware, Adaware and SpybotS&D and one time I ran a 32 scan and it found an ad or spyware.

Vanguard, you have to register now to view the results (which I did) but I could only find that it 100% passed the latest testing for each operating system. There used to be a chart that showed all the anti virus progs and how they did protecting all different systems for different test periods. All I can tell you is that nod32 holds some kind of record so that is why I chose it. I'm not trying to say it is the best. I do use cable access, however, I would really recommend it to someone on dial up because its updates are so small and numerous. Here is the VB link! Good Luck with your choice. Just found the chart, its called the comparative review.

Another way to find out how security software stacks up against its competition is via ICSA Labs at https://www.icsalabs.com. They have lists of certified antivirus, firewall, etc., software.

---

Edit

More importantly when you view how your antivirus stacks up it's important that it be listed in both of the following catagories (for home PC users):

* Products certified under Anti-Virus Cleaning Criteria

* Products certified under Desktop/Server Anti-Virus Detection

Note:

Currently the fully featured (with resident shield) freeware antivirus solutions aren't even listed in the cleaning criteria, only commercial software has been certified for cleaning. Therefore if you want to detect viruses, and "possibly clean" infected files, then a paid commercial antivirus product is most probably needed.

The true lightweight antivirus software that is certified in both catagories is eTrust EZ Antivirus. Lightweight meaning: Smallest download size, smallest installed size, not a resource hog, and quick full system scanning.

It is free for the one year. When it is expiring the built in License and Registration tool will allow you to buy a new license for one or more years, it's up to you how long the renewal period will be according to how much you want to spend.

Email scanning is built in for email software. If you're using a webmail account via a web browser such as Hotmail, GMail, Yahoo! Mail, etc., the resident shield will protect you.

so far ez antiirus is working very nicely. the only problem i find with it is when i start my computer up for the longest time there is an red X on the system tray icon for EZ. i click update and it says everything is up to date but then the red X goes away.

I am guessing this is not a problem just checking
