feature; gomplayer

I thought;

Maybe it is possible to add a feature to "clean" gom-player files.

At Windows 7, when right-clicking the gom-player icon on the taskbar, it shows the files you have recent listened.

I think it would be a good idea to make it possible to clean that list.

Any further;

Ccleaner is a very good program that I use a few years now, and will continue to do so!

Woah that took a bit . . . but

add this to your winapp2.ini (see link in my signature)

[*GomPlayer]
LangsecRef=3023
Detect=HKCU\Software\GRETECH\GomPlayer
Default=True
FileKey1=%appdata%\GRETECH\GomPlayer|*.bmk
RegKey1=HKCU\Software\GRETECH\GomPlayer\OPTION|sRecentFile
RegKey2=HKCU\Software\GRETECH\GomPlayer\OPTION|sRecentFolder
RegKey3=HKCU\Software\GRETECH\GomPlayer\OPTION|sRecentPLFolder
RegKey4=HKCU\Software\GRETECH\GomPlayer\OPTION|sRecentURL

I was not able to get Gom-Player to remember files in the jumplist (right click on taskbar as you put it) at all, but this seems to clean out the majority of the memorized locations for the program. When cleaned along with Other Explorer MRUs the program SHOULD forget even the location of recently opened files (strangly it seems that both need to be run to get the explorer to forget)

EDIT: Winapp2.ini entry confirmed on Windows 7 should work on all windows though

Hi, I made some additions to the Gretch Gom Player section.

Unfortunately it's ugly code, because of the way Gom Player wastes registry entries.

Every time you play a file in Gom Player, an addition is made to the registry, (up to 50 of them) which is called "_RECENTMEDIANAME000" "_RECENTMEDIANAME001" and so on.

Also an addition is made for the playposition of that file.

Now the thing is, the names are stored in encrypted form in the registry. So I was wondering if those registry entries could be decrypted to show the original file names.

Does anyone know?

So anyway I added those registry entries to my winapp2.ini. I also put in the other entries that show recent folders and files that were mentioned by Nergal.

This code works for XP and W7.

. . . So I was wondering if those registry entries could be decrypted to show the original file names. . .

Win xp used ROT13 to encode some registry entries.

Win 7 does too, but I don't have GOM Player so cannot check that.

There is a post about ROT13 HERE.

Be advised, the standalone app is a CNET download, some folks don't like those.

Post up if it works or not. :)

@Login, I just tested and it directly downloaded Gom Player. I know they do have a CNET downloader as well, but on some downloads where they have this option, they also have a tiny direct download link to it as an option.

I have seen what you say on certain downloads, but this time, it seems to directly download.

Didn't work that way here when I downloaded ROT13 just now.

I had to uncheck an install of something called "Buzzbox", and the file did not download to my usual folder.

Not a problem, I don't mind that on this computer, just saying... :)

By the way, are those GOM Player registry entries encoded w/ ROT13?

ROT13 is a fairly simple cipher, I can't imagine they would be.

You're right. They're not.
