Aethec
I still have it, so...maybe it's possible to use it like a portable app ? (i.e. put it on an USB key) Piriform French translator
Ishi
I still have its setup though. Don't you think Microsoft should release new cleanup tools for maintaining PC's??? I love computer maintenance tasks. Some of my favorite programs: Wordpad -basic word processing Notepad - temporary clipboard and basic scripting module Windows Media Player 12- video, music and online radio player Windows Media Center - live TV, local FM radio CCleaner- handy computer maintenance tool If something fails to work after using the registry cleaner, use SYSTEM RESTORE. Moderators Andavari Posted June 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 28, 2010 I've had it installed for so long, yet I've never used it, not even once. With Revo Uninstaller and Total Uninstall working in tandem that's all I need. Since that article states it can damage a system which I suppose can only happen if it's actually used versus just sitting on the hard disk gathering cobwebs so I'm going to uninstall it. Moderators DennisD Posted June 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 28, 2010 I've never used it either, and the times I could have used it, the actual programs I wanted to remove weren't listed although they were installed with the Windows Installer technology. Aethec
I used it to remove the Office 2010 Technical Preview, because both the uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller failed to remove it. Useful IMO...but if MS says harmful things can be done, I guess I'll have to be extra careful next time. Piriform French translator
Talldog9
I've used it to remove failed install remnants before retrying. Mainly Adobe. The internet - Where men are men, women are men and children are FBI agents.
pwillener
Thank you for that information - that is very helpful. I have recommended this tool thousands of times in the Adobe forums, and it is indeed a shame that Microsoft has retired, rather than fixed it! It has been known to cause problems on systems where Office 2007 is installed. The good news is, there are still hundreds of downloads for the tool all around the web. P.S. I have updated the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility accordingly.

Talldog9
LOL I looked at the Wikipedia page before you edited it to see if it mentioned the issues. The internet - Where men are men, women are men and children are FBI agents.
Aethec
m$ kill a lot of decent tools, regmon is a good example. Regmon was replaced by Procmon PS : No offense intended, but saying "m$" is quite ridiculous. Piriform French translator
