Moderators Andavari Posted June 24, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) Macrium Reflect Rescue CD Tip This gives details on how to properly make a Rescue CD, change the disc volume label, and verify the data written to the CD. Since Macrium doesn't verify the data written to the Rescue CD what's detailed below is very important information! Requirements: Macrium Reflect Free Edition, or Paid version. Additonal Software Requirements: ImgBurn - it's freeware! Instructions: 1. Allow Macrium Reflect to output the Rescue CD as an ISO image file "Rescue.iso" which ImgBurn can then burn, and auto verify. Note: Make a mental note or write onto some scrap paper the Rescue CD version that Macrium Reflect lists, you'll need that information for step 5 listed below. 2. After Macrium has made the ISO file "Rescue.iso" you can close Macrium. Now load the ISO file into ImgBurn. 3. In ImgBurn it's now recommended to manually change the disc volume label ("name"). To do this click: Tools -> ISO -> Change Volume Label 4. Now for the select file dialog click the little browse folder icon in ImgBurn to load the ISO image file. 5. Now with the ISO image file loaded for editing input relevant information for the label so it's easy to know exactly what the disc is for and the version number, example: MACRIUM_RESCUE_CD_V_2_1_2733 6. Now close ImgBurn after changing the volume label. 7. Now open ImgBurn, load the ISO file into it, and burn the Rescue CD. Note: Make certain to click the Verify option in ImgBurn while it's burning the disc!!! 8. Now leave the disc in your CD/DVD drive and restart your computer. You must test the disc to make certain it functions properly! Note: Whenever you update Macrium Reflect check to see if you need to also update the Macrium Rescue CD if the version number of it has also been updated. Note that you absolutely must keep the Macrium Rescue CD up-to-date to the current version of Macrium Reflect you have made a backup image with otherwise the Rescue CD won't work.
