Moderators hazelnut Posted October 12, 2005 Moderators Share Posted October 12, 2005 I have a bluetooth dongle for exchange of mobile info. On the device manager it shows as occupying com ports 4 and 5. Is this right? Is a serial port and a com port the same thing? Mike Rochip
Hello- The answer to both questions appears to be "yes." "Serial ports are typically identified on IBM compatible computers as COM (communications) ports." Info Bluetooth uses both a Serial Port and an Information Exchange. "You should be able to see the two COM ports (Serial Port and Information Exchange). Also make sure the node ?Network Access? is started. If you do not see any of the above, read your Bluetooth user manual." Info

Mike Rochip
Thanks for your answer and time Mike <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're very welcome, although I started to get worried you might think the snooty "If you do not see any of the above, read your Bluetooth user manual." was me talking I've noticed you go out of your way to try to help people and I always feel kind of bad when someone asks a question and doesn't get an answer. Sadly, I only know the answer about 12.3% of the time... Thanks and take care!
