HijackThis Beta

So how's that working out for ya? Of course I'm not gonna post this in the Spyware Hell forum or Hazelnut will beat me up. I'm a longtime beginner when it comes to HijackThis. I think I'll download it and do a simple scan just to see.

HJT is useless now, the very few changes that were fixed are small bug issues

Typical Trend Micro, they talk a lot but don't actually back it up

What happened to the original author of the programme? His site has been down for a long time?

I still use it to see if any changes have happened since I added everything to the ignorelist.

HJT is useless now

Why do you say that - is it because its functionality has been superseded and improved on by other tools?

Surely it still works as far as "doing what it used to do" effectively?

Only thing I've ever used in it is the Misc Tool "Delete a file on reboot."

Must admit I've always viewed it as an info / object removal tool for things in certain standard categories and locations; key entries and stuff like BHOs and the like. So I can see why it's less use against modern malware; I just didn't think it was meant to be that sophisticated in the first place.

Incidentally Andavari there's a sysinternal tool that will remove / rename at reboot, if you want to ditch HJT.

I know, but still like HJT to look at various things in one app, saves a bunch of time. Actually MBAM also has delete a file on reboot called "Fileassassin" located in the More Tools tab or separately available here.
