Keno69
Welcome to piriform MargeR. That isn't a fault of CC its a fault of the previous uninstaller. CC only reads info from the registry. Moderators Andavari Posted December 17, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 17, 2009 So, I'm a computer nerd!! Where and how do I search for what you suggested? If you are 100% absolutely certain you've uninstalled the program and have no other Ahead/Nero software installed you can use a simple .REG file to remove those references. But if you have other Ahead/Nero software installed do not use the .REG file listed below! Instructions: 1. Make a System Restore Point, and an ERUNT backup. This is your way easy out of trouble. 2. Make sure you have Administrator privileges on your system. 3. Copy what's in the code below and paste it into Notepad, then save it on the desktop as (including the quotes is necessary otherwise Notepad will save it as a text document): "Remove Nero.reg" REGEDIT4 ; Removes Ahead/Nero references from HKCU [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead] [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nero] REGEDIT4 ; Removes Ahead/Nero references from HKLM [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ahead] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Nero]
cc1
So, I'm a computer nerd!! Where and how do I search for what you suggested? Marge, This likely involves going into the registry and deleting applicable keys. I would recommend a lot of caution because mishaps in the registry can cause severe damage to the proper functioning of your computer. Based on your comments, it doesn't sound like you have much or any experience regarding this issue. You may want to consider leaving well-enough alone; I doubt having a few leftover Nero registry keys are causing any detriment and the fact that CCleaner is identifying them is more of a nuisance than anything else. Nonetheless, if you want to learn more about the registry, there are lots of places available on the internet. Here's one: http://www.theeldergeek.com/windows_xp_registry.htm Edit: Sorry Andavari. Didn't mean to step on your toes. I posted my response prior to seeing yours. Nontheless, it offers additional perspective.
