Wipe Free Space

I've been hesitant with using the wipe free space in the advanced section. Is there any harm when checking 'Old Prefetch data,

IIS Log Files, User Assist History' options? Also, is it true the more Wipe Free Space is used the better?

Thanks, as you can see I am new w/this feature.

I wouldn't dream of using wfs unless I had a very good reason - and I haven't yet. I have old prefetch and user assist ticked with no problems. I don't have IIS ticked as I don't have any of these files.

Free space wiper is unstable, prone to stalling, deleting restore points, etc. Why invite a headache? Wait until it gets fixed.

Thank you. I have already used it except in the advance section. You are right, it does delete restore points, but it's never stalled on me, nor has it caused any other problems. The only "good reason" I had was I thought by wiping free space it did what it actually says, "wipe free space". In other words I thought it cleaned the hard drive to give it more space and faster speed. I see now that after reading past comments that it actually doesn't. Writing over deleted data several times really doesn't do anything that I can see. Putting extra blankets over the bed doesn't make the bed dissapear! Pull back the blankets/sheets and you'll find the bed! Sorry for the lay-mans terms.

However I will take the advice of not using it, regardless if it gets fixed or not. Over-all, CCleaner is a good tool.

Thanks for the response~
