Winapp2.ini
I can safely say driver updates are not big on my list of "things to do". I purchased an AGP Video Card back in December of 2006 and just updated its drivers yesterday (Which is good, because my new cpu doesn't have an AGP slot, and I'm basically wasting space till I can ghost this drive onto the new one.) Anyway, how often does the rest of Piriform update? winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
tcoffeep
I don't update my drivers unless I know there's something absolutely wrong with 'em. Hasn't happened yet. Fantasy is the celebration of what we no longer are: individuals certain of our meaningfulness in a meaningful world. The wish-fulfillment that distinguishes fantasy from other genres is not to be the all-conquering hero, but to live in a meaningful world. The fact that such worlds are enchanted worlds, worlds steeped in magic, simply demonstrates the severity of our contemporary crisis.Scott R. Bakker, Why Fantasy and Why Now? Moderators hazelnut Posted October 1, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2008 Tend to be the same, if they work, I leave them alone. Once I didn't listen to myself and I still shudder now at the mention of HP and printers. Moderators Andavari Posted October 1, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2008 Rarely, unless it's security related to fix an exploit. I'll never update ATI display drivers again because the islayer.dll bug seems to eventually make it impossible to update them anyways.
JDPower
Tend to be the same, if they work, I leave them alone. Same here. Used to update drivers quite regular but don't bother anymore.

Moderators Andavari Posted October 2, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 2, 2008 Asus recently released a beta bios for my motherboard I've seen some tech sites that say flash updating the BIOS shouldn't be done unless you're having a particular problem, and some have stated it should only be done once or twice because you're always playing "Russian Roulette" as anything could go wrong. The BIOS on my Dell is several years old, and the only reason I did update it all those years ago was because it did actually fix issues.

davey
Hi Hazel I know exactly! what you mean (HP printers & updates!) , I've been down that road! Me too !!! Unfortunately until I came to the forums and learned better. For some Manufacturers they should not call them "drivers". They should call them "driveus", as in "drive us crazy". davey

1984
I never update drivers and have never needed to. The only time i ever tried to update them (ATI drivers) it screwed up my whole screen and i had to remove them after trying everything to get the thing working properly again. Never again. larry39
I've seen some tech sites that say flash updating the BIOS shouldn't be done Yep, I agree. If you are not having a BIOS problem, let that sleeping dog lie. And If the BIOS update is a Beta, that's another reason to stay away. I would say the same about router firmware. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My Sony Bios is 4 years old and still going strong. My experience with ATI and HP has been good (so far). I upgrade my ATI driver every time a new comes out, although I now only install the basic driver rather than the full Catalyst Suite. My HP printer and scanner are old and the updates are now few and far between, but the ones I have installed gave no problems.
