Tomahawk PDF+ v3.0.1 has been released. It's what I've been using for a couple of years to make PDF documents, and it doesn't require any other programs to make PDF's unlike many other free PDF makers. It's as easy to use as Microsoft Word!

Supports:

* Microsoft Windows 9x up to Windows 2003. Does NOT mention any support for Windows Vista.

* Runs on Linux systems using Wine v0.9.19.

About:

Tomahawk PDF+ gives you a complete PDF file creation suite right on your computer. Tomahawk PDF+ is the freeware version of Tomahawk Gold. The freeware version may not have all the bells and whistles of the full version of Tomahawk Gold but it is still one of the most advanced word processing/pdf creation software packages available for the Windows platform. This comfortably designed program with a familiar interface that's easy to use, allows documents to be produced and saved in a number of formats, including:

* Rich Text.

* Exported as HTML.

* Converted to PDF.

While extracting the contents of the ZIP file for the "Webserver" app to Program Files, I got a virus alert from AntiVir telling me that app's main EXE file contains trojan "TR/VB/Small.2564096." Does this program contain a real virus, or is this one of those false positives?

SMPlayer

http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/

SMPlayer is a very nice, and impressive multilingual frontend for MPlayer. It includes practically everything needed to playback most video and audio formats. Extra Codecs can be found on the MPlayer download page under Binary Codec Packages. Note: I'm linking to the extra codecs on MPlayer because the extra codecs setup package from SMPlayer messes with the original SMPlayer uninstaller.

I think I've finally found the perfect video playing software in SMPlayer after trying a myriad of others over the past couple of years!

Info:

SMPlayer intends to be a complete front-end for MPlayer, from basic features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like support for MPlayer filters and more.

One of the most interesting features of SMPlayer: it remembers the settings of all files you play. So you start to watch a movie but you have to leave... don't worry, when you open that movie again it will resume at the same point you left it, and with the same settings: audio track, subtitles, volume...

Other additional interesting features:

* Configurable subtitles. You can choose font and size, and even colors for the subtitles.

* Audio track switching. You can choose the audio track you want to listen. Works with avi and mkv. And of course with DVDs.

* Seeking by mouse wheel. You can use your mouse wheel to go forward or backward in the video.

* Video equalizer, allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma of the video image.

* Multiple speed playback. You can play at 2X, 4X... and even in slow motion.

* Filters. Several filters are available: deinterlace, postprocessing, denoise... and even a karaoke filter (voice removal).

* Audio and subtitles delay adjustment. Allows you to sync audio and subtitles.

* Advanced options, such as selecting a demuxer or video & audio codecs.

* Playlist. Allows you to enqueue several files to be played one after each other. Autorepeat and shuffle supported too.

* Preferences dialog. You can easily configure every option of SMPlayer by using a nice preferences dialog.

* Translations: currently SMPlayer is translated into more than 20 languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese....

* It's multiplatform. Binaries available for Windows and Linux.

* SMPlayer is under the GPL license.

Is that inherent in the program or does that rely heavily on what video card you have?

Don't know yet, I've haven't even been using it for 24 hours as of yet. I would think the video card if modern enough, i.e.; something from WinXP and newer would suffice.

Are those stable builds though, and not just in testing phase? I only ask because the download on SourceForge is stable and rock solid.

I try to stay as up to date as I can with them and maybe once I had a problem that may have been due to using them, but it could have been due to my failing hard disk(causing many problems, very well could be this). They won't crash left and right if that's what you mean. Generally stable.
