A-squred Anti Malware on Give Away Of The Day

I found that it was way too chatty and riddled with false positives.

I'll stick with MBAM:

VERY TRUE. Haven't used it for ages, but just updated 3.1 to 3.5 and scanned with it. Nothing but false positives. Also don't like those text ads in Free edition. Ad-aware SE is the way to go. Hopefully they will continue to provide definition updates for it.

Hi to all

Just read your lines and here is what I use

I've had no more problems since I use this combination of progs :

AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic

Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal

Lavasoft RegHance

a-squared Free

Spybot - Search & Destroy

SpywareBlaster

HistoryKill 2003

Startup Mechanic

and of course CCleaner

By the way I use IE 6.0 and have SP3 on a XP Pro platforme

Low security I have read! Tweak the options!

I test my protections and I can say that "for the moment" I can surf almost anywhere with out any harm

I can stop most of the bad things before they even enter my computer

I have tweaked my IE settings and those of Window$

XP is a great OS You just have to tweak it and take care of it

And you can configure ALOT!

Anyway

Take care all

I recommend IE7 with IE7Pro ad-in.

I use its Tabbed interface a lot and sometimes I have 6 tabs open to various sites that I want to cross reference like:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...ie/default.mspx

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512583.aspx

I have Windows Defender and WinPatrol on all my systems and McAfee SiteAdvisor on XP Pro and Firetrust SiteHound on XP Home and I'm trying out Avir on my slow PIII system.

Better yet Opera and FireFox. Definitely dump IE6 though.

Ok guys

I'll tell you my reasons not to move to IE7

Not friendly with some of my "protecting progs"

Makes a mess

I use Firefox on the side sometimes

I prefere Mozilla better then IE7

IE6 to me is all I need

I don't like the feeling and look of IE7

And I don't know, but I'm NOT paying for anything

That's for sure

Thanks for your good intentions

But as I am today with my config

It suits me 200%

I can controle a maximum of things with my old progs lol

And don't forget OLD progs didn't connect to the net!!!!

So no spying or other stuff going on

Speed could be an argument But well I've got time ;)

I can't find any reason to change things

I've tryed alot of progs before finding those I use

As long as my computer is running and that my connexion is under controle I don't see any reason to change things

Thanks anyway

Take care all

PS: check the list of progs I sent
