Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3 install cleanup

A somewhat common problem for Windows XP users who've installed Service Pack 3 (SP3) while a registry modification monitoring application was running (e.g. anti-virus programs) is that their Device Manager and Network Connections end up blank afterwards. Microsoft has posted a manual registry hacking fix which is quite time consuming because of the upper hundreds to thousands of extra entries causing the problem. There also is a related hotfix download available and this problem existed with Service Pack 2 (SP2), BTW. If CCleaner would be confirmed to automatically remove those known problematic entries then its popularity and usefullness would rocket to the top. C'mon guys... it can't be that hard to implement, right? While you're at it I'm sure there's other similar ones out there too....
