Anyone use OpenDNS?

This is probably the third time I've tried it (and the longest, about a week now) in the past two years. They imply it finds sites faster. Download testing is basically a crap shoot with all the variables going on in cyber space at any given time but I really don't ever see any speed increase, although that might be because I normally test close to 5 MBPS and at that rate things kind of even out. Their servers are 500 miles away, my ISP 60. I suppose it has some security benefits. I posted this on Wilders also. Your opinion appreciated!

I tried it for a while a couple of months ago. There was no remarkable (if any) difference in speed, so i decided not to use it. Also there was a problem with Ad-aware (SE) updates, although there was a workaround for it.

-I think only security benefit is, that it got phishing filter. It's not a big benefit though, since most browsers got build-in one now a days.

I used to use it till they introduced the shortcuts feature and at the same time had a fallout with Google, at which point the Firefox address bar stopped working properly. Currently I type, for example, 'Play' in the address bar it automatically takes me to www.play.com. With Open DNS it always takes you to their guide page. I and others have discussed this at length on their forums but they stubbornly refuse to do anything about it so I dumped them.

Funnily enough I have literally just yesterday tried them again to see if the above issue still existed and it does so it was goodbye ODNS from me again <_<

I didn't know that. I've used it for so long, I never realised the non autocomplete was anything other than normal.

Can't say anything about the difference in speed as it's impossible to do an immediate A & B comparison. By the time you change your internet settings, I think it's pretty hard to compare with the previous settings, unless the difference is remarkable.
