Windows Defender and Office XP

Recommended Posts

I'm a great fan of CC which I use all the time. Just want to report a couple of glitches which I have noticed after installing the latest CC version:

Windows Defender - CC is removing details of the last Defender run date and type from the initial screen. It reverts to details of the run before the CC upgrade. Have had to uncheck the WD box in CC Applications to stop this behaviour.

Office XP - CC is removing my settings in Word XP eg. I like to keep the Ruler turned off. After I run CC the setting is lost. Unchecking Office XP in CC Applications means that the Word XP setting is retained after pc reboot.

Would be good if these can be resolved in future CC Release.

So it has bitten you too! I think most MS Office users will be bitten by CC removing the settings. A quick forum search using Microsoft Office will turn up allot of threads with people complaining about the settings getting removed, however there's only two options:

1. Disable the Office cleaner in CC to retain the settings.

2. Enable the Office cleaner in CC to remove some MRU files, and subsequently lose the settings along with it.

There isn't really any other work around because the Word settings and MRU list are all stored in the same registry location, even the CCleaner developer not too long ago confirmed that nothing could be done to change that behaviour. So to clean things like Word, there's no free lunch. ;)
