DJpailo
Well, my computer loads up fairly slowly, but when its loaded its all fine. It seems to take ages to load when it reaches this stage: http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/103...ogo-loading.gif (The windows Logo) The blue bar will be seen loading about 30 times before going to the login page, where after that its fine. I am just wondering why it takes so long to load at this point, and is there any way, apart from a reformat, to quicken this up. I have a 2.4Ghz PC with 767MB RAM. http://www.lavasoftusa.com http://wiki.lunarsof.../PC_Maintenance
Moderators hazelnut Posted July 9, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 9, 2007 Does it do the same in safe mode? Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
fireryone
Is you system part (or previously part) of a domain? Otherwise as hazelnut said check out safe mode, and consider posting a hijackthis log if you worried and a pro can look at it. fireryone
DJpailo
Does it do the same in safe mode? In safe mode its quite fast. What is a domain?? I don't think it's anything to do with spyware, viruses etc. Im quite cautious and got the necessary protection. http://www.lavasoftusa.com http://wiki.lunarsof.../PC_Maintenance
Moderators hazelnut Posted July 10, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 10, 2007 I think Firey was wanting to know if your computer is, and has always been, just a single computer not linked up with any others. Please mention if it has or is, as he may have a suggestion to help. You could always try this troubleshooting guide here which may help discover what is causing the slow loading. http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/1476 Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

The only remote possbility to that, is that I share an internet conenction using a router, but the two computers are not linked in any way. I will start reading that guide. http://www.lavasoftusa.com http://wiki.lunarsof.../PC_Maintenance
fireryone
Thats fine then, next time I'll leave domain questions out of posts, not a very 'newbie' safe question (No disrespect intended, DJ many people wouldn't have a clue what I just asked ) Anyway I cant think of anything else just now, I'll be back, unless hazel beats me to it ... If you load up CCleaner, click tools click startup, post a screenshot of whats listed there may be some stuff slowing it down we can eliminate. fireryone

Moderators hazelnut Posted July 11, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 11, 2007 When you say you read the guide, did you try windows selective startup? I think you may have misread what Firery asked, open CCleaner, click tools, CLICK STARTUP so it shows what loads when you start your computer and post that list. Yeah I tried it by unchecking them all except the first one, and then it still went really slow. Whoops, I will repost that now: http://www.lavasoftusa.com http://wiki.lunarsof.../PC_Maintenance
